Choosing a Stereogram Type

Choose a stereogram type from the samples below to best suit your needs.  Types can usually be used in combinations.

   HIS - hidden image stereogram
   MTS - mapped textured stereogram
   OAS - object array stereogram
   Combinations

STEREOGRAM TYPE SAMPLES

HIS  ( hidden image stereogram )

Object or text are impossible to see until viewed with parallel vision. This is the type most closely associated with stereograms.  It is difficult to show anything with fine detail or long words, so it is necessary to keep objects simple and text short.

MTS  ( mapped textured stereogram )

With MTS, a color map is used instead of a pattern as with HIS.  Much finer detail can be had with this technique, but objects and text are not well hidden.

OAS  ( object array stereogram )

Objects are in full view, but the 3D effects are totally hidden.  Creates an aesthetic that can be appreciated even if viewer fails to see the 3D effect.
